I am honored to serve on the Newington Town Council as Deputy Mayor.
I grew up in Newington and graduated from Newington High School. I received an Associate Degree in Science/Nursing from Greater Hartford Community College and went on to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees in Latin American Studies and Anthropology at the University of Connecticut. I currently work as a registered nurse for a CT-based non-profit organization, providing services to underserved and unstably housed people in the Greater Hartford region. As a single parent, I raised a son, Loren, who is now married, adding a wonderful daughter-in-law to our family.
I am proud to be a member of the Newington Veteran Firefighters Association, Friends of the Lucy Robbins Welles Library, the Newington Historical Society and a member of both the Anna Reynolds and John Wallace Building Committees. It is a privilege to serve my community.
As a Town Councilor, I am dedicated to serving our town, working to ensure that Newington’s current residents and future generations have the resources, services and environment necessary for a safe, healthy and vibrant community. I am committed to smart management of our tax dollars; and to thoughtful development, including our town center, that fosters economic growth while maintaining open space and assuring a livable community. I will continue to support public education and funding for our Newington public schools. I will work to support and showcase the creative, historical and cultural assets of our town. As always, I will continue to work closely with our state legislators to maximize state funding opportunities and ensure that we receive and maintain our fair share of state and federal funds.
