Kathy Gonzalez
I am honored to serve as a member of the Newington Town Council.
I am a retired Children Service Worker for CT Department of Children and Families and have been a 25-plus year resident of Newington. As someone who has struggled during parts of her life, I can relate when people are down and need a hand up. Making a difference in our town and helping other people is something I have always tried to do. I care so much about our community and want to make a positive change.
Over the years, I have been very involved while my children were in school with many different sports organizations and serving as co President of Chaffee PTA. My daughter Ari, and sons Nick and Nate have all benefited from our great school system and other town services as well. I currently serve on the Human Rights Commission, the youth adult council and as a liaison to Newington Housing Authority and the Newington Chamber of Commerce. I am also on the board of directors of Iwo Jima Memorial Historical Foundation and currently serve as the secretary. You may have met me as a volunteer helping co-chair the Newington’s American Cancer Relay for Life, supporting and gathering donations to help veterans and others or out and about at our many amazing town events.
Using my energy to help others is a part of my core, and serving on the Town Council these past two years has been a great way to do this. I am proud of the work we have accomplished and want to continue to make our town a great place to live, work, and enjoy for others in the future. I am excited to continue working together with all elected officials and the residents of our incredible community.
